who do you use for gutter cleaning?

looking for someone to clean our gutters before the rest of the leaves come down. the neighbors have a couple big oaks and a sweetgum and it all ends up on our roof. the downspouts are totally clogged, and when it rained last week the water just poured over the edge and ran down the siding. not great.

i'd really rather not get up on a ladder myself. i'm clumsy and my dog would just stand at the bottom judging me anyway.

we're out in the Johnson area but i'd guess anyone in Fayetteville would come out. what's a fair price for a one-story house? and is there anything i should ask before i book somebody? thanks y'all

Around here a one-story usually runs $125-200 depending on how long the run is and how bad it's packed. Be suspicious of anything under about $100. That's usually a guy with a leaf blower who never touches the downspouts.

Before you book, ask:

- Do they flush the downspouts, or just scoop the troughs? With sweetgum balls that matters a lot.
- Do they haul the debris, or leave a pile in your flower bed?
- Can they send proof of insurance? If somebody falls off your roof, you don't want that landing on you.

I'm in a deer stand half of November and I still pay someone to do my gutters. Some ladders aren't worth it. Also expect a second visit after the last leaves drop, because the oaks hold on forever.

Agree on the second visit, the oaks around Dickson hold their leaves till nearly Christmas. I'd also ask for a couple of photos when they finish, or just watch them run a hose down each downspout 👍 And don't pay till the water actually comes out the bottom.

Hope this helps

this is really helpful, thank you both. i hadn't thought about the second visit at all, but you're right, the oaks next door are still holding most of their leaves. sounds like i should book one now for the sweetgum mess and a second one closer to christmas.

the hose thing is a good idea. i'll be out there watching with a cup of coffee, and the dog will supervise. and i'll ask about insurance before anyone shows up.

still taking names if anybody has someone they've liked out this way.
